We finally moved into our new apartment!! However, we're already having second thoughts hahaha! The apartment itself is great.. it's in the same condo development as his sister's so family is only a couple buildings down. It's also closer to the "centro" where everything, including Ricardo's job, is located. It has 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms and it already came with it's own stove unit (yes just stove, no oven lol) and "calefon" which provides you with hot water.. both of which apparently you have to buy yourself anywhere you try to go. The rooms are spacious, great for having people over and one has a really beautiful view of the mountains and city. I will say though, whoever painted this place... I don't even know what to say to them. The colors are pure, elementary hues of very bright yellow, orange, the bathrooms pure green and all with a midnight blue carpet. Why? We're not exactly sure. But we have a few theories.. hahaha.
But we soon found out, all the great stuff comes with a price.. it's always freezing COLD!! Quito itself is naturally cold at night and early mornings, but the thing is our building stands between 2 others therefore anything below the top floor gets no sunlight. Save probably a good hour or so at lunch time when no one is home. Central ac or heating doesn't exactly exist around here and we're not so sure how worth a crazy electrical bill from keeping a space heater in each room would be. Another apartment opened up in the same development where his parents live, which will have plenty of sunlight but one less bathroom and slightly smallers rooms. Oh and this time we'll be buying our own stove and oven. I personally like being closer to his fam's place but there are plenty of pros and cons we have to sort out for each place. Maybe we'll give the owner some crazy story about why we're breaking our lease haha! We're going to look at the other place sometime tonight so we'll see what happens.
